James founded Neural Alpha to bring Connected Data solutions to the financial sector with a particular focus on sustainable investing. He has a track record of delivering innovative data solutions particularly within the financial sector having consulted extensively at many of the world's largest Investment Banks, Mutual Funds and Hedge Funds. Prior to Consulting he was Head of Information Management at Man Group plc following roles at Thomson Reuters. James is the Event Director of Connected Data London and holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics & Economic History from the University of York. Outside of work he enjoys running, cycling and is a keen Moth sailor competing internationally.
Terry is a former CTO and an experienced product designer, full stack web developer and team leader. Terry has worked across a diverse number of industries including multi-channel retail, finance and server monitoring. Combining user, technology, commercial and data insights to deliver innovative solutions with real business impact. In his free time, he enjoys travelling, playing video games and reading up on topics such as physics, AI research and augmented reality.
Richard is the COO at Neural Alpha. Having spent a number of years at Unilever in various finance roles Richard specialized in private equity honing his skills in strategic financial management expertise in overseeing both the investment funds and corporate finance responsibilities at senior management committee level. Richard has been an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants since 1997. Outside of work he enjoys mountain biking, sails occasionally and plays the guitar.
Jude leads data science at Neural Alpha, following a career in the financial sector and data consultancies. With a PhD in astrophysics and a post-doc working on ESA's Planck satellite, he brings vast experience in data analytics, scientific workflows, and machine learning. Outside of work, Jude's main interests are the great outdoors, and reading broadly across the humanities and sciences.
James has an extensive background in data science, simulation and modelling. He is a world class engineer who honed his skills working with Olympic and America's Cup teams. In the America's Cup, he lead software, performance analysis and simulation groups in developing the data architecture and software tools required to optimise race boat performance. As well as his technical and leadership experience he has a long-standing passion for sustainability. In his spare time he enjoys mountain biking, sailing and being outdoors.
Ben gained a First Class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University before joining an economic consultancy startup. He has over two decades of experience in financial market economics and strategy since and now works as an ESG researcher. In his spare time, Ben likes running, swimming, cycling and walking in the South Downs.
Ivor’s core digital background extends across project and product management, and user experience. As innovation manager, he’s also held responsibility for implementing a programme of change - to increase innovation capability at Wiley, the global publishing company. Ivor draws on a broad portfolio of complementary skills and experience from agile working environments to corporate communications, and decision making to creative problem solving. Ivor brings a generative mindset, an analytical approach, and a keen awareness of value creation and strategic alignment.
Ciaran is an experienced project manager with domain knowledge of sustainable development, socio-technical transitions and climate change impacts. He has led research projects examining the discourses of decarbonisation innovations in steel, meat/dairy, paper and plastic industries in response to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and also specialises in entrepreneurship and product development, with extensive experience in start-ups. Ciaran holds a MSc. Sustainable Development (Complex Systems Profile) from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Outside of work he enjoys bouldering and cooking.
Adam’s main interests are engineering of complex systems and Data Science. In the company he is responsible for back-end and data engineering. He is currently working towards an integrated Master’s Degree in Computer Science at King’s College London. In his free time, he enjoys working on his personal projects, attending hackathons, playing video games and exploring the world of craft beers.
William has spent his career working across multiple academic disciplines from chemistry to remote sensing. He has experience developing data-sharing mobile apps and worked in the John Lewis Partnership where he built stock management tools. William is working on trase.finance, an exciting one-of-a-kind service for investment ESG management. He holds a degree in Chemistry and Geography from the University of Toronto where he also studied Persian. Outside of work he enjoys cycling, language-learning and cinema.
Tanya focused her career early on at the nexus of sustainability and data. She has worked full-time at Neural Alpha since May 2021 focusing on data engineering and business analysis. She has experience working with data in corporate social responsibility (CSR), academia and the charity sector on issues ranging from the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, CSR disclosure, low-carbon technology and environmental policy. Tanya holds a BSc in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with a major in Economics from the University of Warwick and an MSc in Environmental Economics from the London School of Economics, with specialisations in data science and computer programming. In her free time, Tanya enjoys travelling. She backpacked in South America for five months in 2018. She also enjoys dancing, hiking or pursuing artistic projects.
Samuel studied Computer Science at King’s College London, while building two businesses outside of his degree. Samuel's main interests in Computer Science are artificial intelligence and software development, but is also quite focused on environmental sustainability and finance. His dissertation at university was based on sentiment analysis and machine learning through analysing social media content to determine the mental states of its users. Outside of work, Samuel likes to learn languages, read, compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, play tennis, golf, and video games.
Arman has extensive experience in working with linked data technologies and knowledge modelling to enable reasoning and inferencing over vast networks of connected data. Other than the obvious interests in Sustainability and Finance, he also enjoys working on projects that involve RL, NLP or Climate Science - although he does say he is yet to get a proper taste of the latter. Arman is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from King's College London. When not at work or in uni, you may find him curating London's incredible music scene.
